Searching for a Master's of Science student enrolled through the University of Alaska Anchorage who will be co-advised by Matt Carlson (see below for more details).

NSF will fund a multi-year study of flower color evolution and genomic constraints in Arctic mustards that I proposed with Matt Carlson (University of Alaska Anchorage). We'll be comparing pollinator and non-pollinator agents of selection on flower color polymorphisms in a pair of Arctic mustards along a transect from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay! Currently we're looking for a Master's Student (enrolled at UAA) to join the project this summer (2008) and lead the field component which includes pollinator experiments, environmental monitoring and alot of exploring Arctic Alaska. If you're interested, have a look at the official advertisement and email me your CV and a brief statement of interest by Feb. 20, 2008.

Just received funding to investigate the niche breadth, reproductive biology, and genomic uniqueness of the serpentine endemic Metcalf Jewelflower (Streptanthus albidus ssp. albidus) with Co-PIs Sharon Strauss (UC Davis) and Jessica Wright (US Forest Service).

My paper with Scott Hodges on directional patterns of nectar spur evolution in columbines recently appeared in Nature. See my Press page for more details.
